My August TBR Pile

August TBR.jpg

Wow! I can’t believe it’s already August! Time has flown this year! This month I am participating in ARC August to try and get some of the copious Advanced Readers copies off my shelf, but because I am still a member of a book club or two, I have some other books to read as well. So, here is my TBR for August!

1. The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Karen Barnhill

My local independent bookseller picked a middle grade book this month. It sounds like a great book so I am looking forward to it.

2. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicole Yoon

So, confession time, I haven’t read Everything, Everything by Nicole Yoon, but another book club I belong to is reading this for the month of August and I fully intend to go. Since it’s a young adult book I figure it should be a relatively quick read.

3. Rabbit Cake by Annie Hartnett

This has appeared on my WWW Wednesday post how many times now? Yea, its time to get this one read!

4. The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

This book grabbed me with its summary instantly. I am going to read it as part of ARC August, but it come out in January!

5. The Goddesses by Swan Huntley

I recently read We Could Be Beautiful by Swan Huntley. While I found the character extremely dislikable, I really liked Huntley’s writing style. So, I gave myself some space, read some other novels, and now I am hoping I can return to her writing with fresh eyes. Plus, this one takes place in Hawaii and I love Hawaii.

6. Indelible by Adelia Saunders

This is another book that just has an interesting concept that I am dying to delve into. Plus I just like the title, personally.

So these are my top priorities in August, but I will likely add more as time permits. What are you reading this month?

  1. I can’t believe it’s August either! The Girl Who Drank The Moon looks interesting. I bet my kids would be interested in it. The Sun Is Also a Star is on my TBR list, but I’ve been reluctant to read it because I wasn’t a fan of Everything, Everything. We’ll see if I manage to pick it up.

    1. The Girl Who Drank the Moon actually won a Newbury Award for Children’s literature. I read quite a few of those growing up and they’re generally pretty good. I am excited to read it.

I’ve heard a lot about Nicole Yoon’s books and it seems like people either really love them or could take them or leave them, but this one seems like something I may enjoy so…we’ll see.

    1. Thank you! And yes The Goddesses does take place in Kona, Hawaii, which is a part of why I want to read it. Although I keep attracting unlikeable characters so I am not sure where in my immediate TBR it’s gonna fall.
