Summer TBR Wipeout || Update #2

Summer TBR Wipeout Update 2Another two weeks are gone in the Summer TBR Wipeout Challenge at Candid Cover. It’s been a fun ride so far, but I keep getting off task from the list in my introductory post.

Still I am making good progress wiping some books off my TBR pile. My first update outlined a clear list of books I wanted to read but I got a little sidetracked.

Here are a few of the books I recently finished.

What I’ve Read So Far

I finished two books in the last week and I am working on reading about three others. Both  these books have reviews posted.

1We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

This is short book that redefines feminism for the 21st Century. I really liked the book although my initial reaction was to be slightly angry at the way society rehashes the conversation. My review discusses these in detail, but overall I walked away with very positive feelings towards this book.

2. The Program by Suzanne Young

In an alternate universe, where teen suicide has become an epidemic, the only way to help young people is through The Program. Young follows two lovers as their love and memories is ripped from them.

I can’t describe how angry this book made me in a few sentences. It’s a really interesting premise but it isn’t pulled out in a great way. On the other hand, if you really like romance, then this novel could be for you.

What’s Next

1. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

I completely forgot about the release of this book and I am dying to give it a read. So I am going to make this a priority to read this week.

2. Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

This is a thriller I am about 80 pages into and I am not sure how I feel about the main characters. I have it on good authority that its “good” so I am trying to keep reading and push through it.

3. Replica by Lauren Oliver

I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this story and I started reading it last week but I have stalled with the previous two books mentioned on this list. I will be picking it back up soon.

4. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman

It’s a book club read that has been on my list forever. As soon as I finish a few of the other books on this list I will be reading this one.

So that’s my second update in the summer TBR Wipeout Challenge. What are you guys currently reading?
