Reader Confessions Tag (with Musical Interlude)

Reader Confessions TagI got tagged by Inge @ The Belgian Reviewer to answer these 11 bookish questions. If you hadn’t had a chance, go check out her blog it’s really cool and she’s really awesome.

Let’s get started!

First, I have a very appropriate song that you can listen to while you read this tag. Sometimes, words bring up a certain song. This one is Usher’s “Confessions Part II”

1. Have you ever damaged a book?

Yes, but it’s usually in the most accidental ways and never in a way that damages the integrity of a book. For example, I fell asleep on an open book once and woke up with the book sprawled on the floor and a page bent a little.

I am pretty sure, legally, you can’t be accountable for things that your body does while you’re asleep.

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

No, I am extra vigilant with those. Although, of course, I do sometimes fall asleep with the book open so maybe  I have and I just don’t remember.

3. How long does it take you to read a book?

I can read about fifty pages or more a day depending on content and length. I can usually read an adult book in about five days and young adult book in a few days.

Plays I can generally read in an evening, maybe two days depending on how many characters there are.

4. Books that you haven’t finished?

There have been a few book that I haven’t finished for very different reasons.

I try to finish all the books I started and didn’t finish were mostly because I was busy in college or just lost interest.

5. Hyped popular books that you don’t like?

Again there were a few but I am not going to name them here. I am sure I am mentioned them before.

6. Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

Not that I can think of. I am good at keeping secrets so if I needed to keep a book under wraps I will, but offhand I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t consciously not tell someone I was reading.

7. How many books do you own?

I would say fifty to seventy-five, but I don’t keep them. I usually pass them on to a friend or a family member.

Then it’s sort of a craps shoot as to if I will get it back, and even then I have a growing TBR pile so I don’t usually worry or want for a book to read.

8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?

I think I am right in the middle. I am not a fast reader, but I am also not an impossibly slow reader.

A large part of my reading speed depends on the prose. If the prose is a little heavier then it will take me longer to get through. The important thing to me is that I enjoy a book rather than rush through it.

9. Do you like to buddy read?

I haven’t buddy-read in years, but I feel like I am working on a project with a friend that might make that a regular thing.

Stay posted, I will announce it here once it’s off the ground.

10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?

I read faster in my head but comprehend it much easier. I love reading out loud too and listening to audiobooks. It’s a different experience, but still one that I really enjoy.

11. If you were only allowed to own one book which one and why?

If I am only allowed one book, it better be because I am on a deserted island and the only book I have is in my carry on. Of course, I would probably pack two books so even then I would have multiple books.

Or my Kindle, full or ARCs, so that I don’t have to deal with the lack of books for a long time. So I will probably pack about three or four solar batteries as well. In short, summer reading.

And that’s it for this tag! I am going to tag a few people to keep this going. If you aren’t into the tag or you have already done it, then please disregard this tag. Likewise if you like what you see here and you want to do it, consider yourself tagged!
