3 Days, 3 Quotes // Some Thoughts on Shakespeare (Day 1)

Main Image Day 1I am a quote nerd so I was really excited to be tagged to do this meme from The Awkward Book Blogger.

The rules are simple:

  1. Share your three favorite quotes over three days or quotes that had an impact on you over three days
  2. Tag a few friends and share the love!

My first quote comes from The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown. This quote accurately describes my feelings about reading Shakespeare.

While I appreciate the beautiful work of the Bard, sometimes you just need someone who gets right to the point. So this quote is something I feel like we can all relate to.

Preach it Eleanor Brown!

Day 1--Eleanor Brown

You have to love a moment when an author tells it like it is and that’s what this quote means to me.

A major new talent tackles the complicated terrain of sisters, the power of books, and the places we decide to call home.

There is no problem that a library card can’t solve.

The Andreas family is one of readers. Their father, a renowned Shakespeare professor who speaks almost entirely in verse, has named his three daughters after famous Shakespearean women. When the sisters return to their childhood home, ostensibly to care for their ailing mother, but really to lick their wounds and bury their secrets, they are horrified to find the others there.

See, we love each other. We just don’t happen to like each other very much.

But the sisters soon discover that everything they’ve been running from — one another, their small hometown, and themselves — might offer more than they ever expected.

You can purchase a copy of The Weird Sisters at your local independent booksellerBarnes & Noble, or Amazon.
